I was tinkering around with the CJ a week ago in the dirt pit...doing donuts...and the clutch pedal went to the floor. I have put all that in NEW and was confused (ie..pissed) why. Straight shifted home and got to lookin'....broken motor mounts! Whole engine was sittin' at an angle!
So this means I have to pull the motor, right?
Well, to leap ahead a little.....I have a 4.0 head on order, Brown Engineering has the block and crank...going 30 over...., still deciding on the cam and pistons, have the Chevy HEI ready to go, bidding on headers, new bearings, oil pump, fuel pump, Holley 390cfm 4bbl, etc. on order.....still have to order the intakefrom Clifford Performance...what else...OH....ENGINE MOUNTS!!! Heck, I just thought of those!! Need to get them coming!!!
Pics to follow......... Todd

Sorry it's been a while. The heat's been TERRIBLE !!! So, Brown's has bored and decked the block. Comp Cams recommended an Xtreme 4254H, so we ordered a kit that should be here today. The head came in. I went with the larger, stainless valves...202/160. I couldn't get Clearwater (or anybody for that matter) to tell me what the combustion chamber was, so we cc'd it when it came in and it came out to 57cc's. The same with the pistons...nobody knew what the cc's were...they could tell you how deep it was, but that was it. They turned out to be 18cc's. I got the Borla headers off Ebay. They are pretty. I'll probably have to do some work on them, but I'm hoping not. They LOOK like they'll work as they are, but my luck ain't that good. The intake is taking forever. Clifford said it should be here next week. I still haven't ordered a carb or fuel pump....OR ENGINE MOUNTS! I think I'm going with stock ones....I just can't see paying $30 (or more) EACH for the high end ones. At least not right now. What do ya'll think? I've cleaned the engine bay, primed and painted it....looks real nice. I have a couple of pics of the bay before I painted it...I'll try to post them. I still haven't ordered my carb or fuel pump. I'm hoping to get up with an ol' bud that works at Holley in Aberdeen and see if he can save me a little on them...just haven't done it, yet. That's all I can think of right now.....

Installed the cam and bearings yesterday afternoon. It was a tight fit, but we took some Scotchbrite pads and rubbed on the front one until it fit like a glove. I hope to get the crank and pistons in sometime this weekend, but we have a "full plate" of other work to do...so, I don't know how much we'll actually get done. We would do more in the afternoons, but it's so d**nED HOT!!!

We installed the pistons earlier in the week, and now are waiting on the new high volume oil pump and head studs from ARP. I couldn't stand it yesterday, so I mocked the head, intake, header, and carb up so I could see "what it's gonna look like" !! Nothin' like a cold beer and a new motor. ;D

Looks good. Would that be considered a Stroker?

Yes and no.
It's the original stroke on the 4.2, but considered "stroked" for a 4.0...and since I'm using a 4.0 head, it comes out to the same thing as a stroked 4.0. Different ways to get to the same place.
