Jeff, I'd probably go with version 3.0 if you can get it to work. It has the most up to date calculations as far as I know and has the nice travel feature tacked on.

wife's computer has excell. punched in the numbers and everything looks good on paper. now if I can just figure out where to put the gas tank, its a little bigger than I remembered. might should have bought the small fuel cell a guy tried to sell me how did your buggy do at greyrock?

when I get threw with the rebuid I'll show you what good old leaf springs will do, I will be teaching a class on humility!

That is a really nice program....are there instructions on how to use it?.....for dummies.... None that I know of. I did a lot of searching and reading on Pirate to figure out acceptable numbers. General stuff that should work OK: Anti-squat below 100% (around 40% is the bottom end). When referring to a front axle, anti-squat becomes anti-dive. Roll-axis angle around 0 degrees Instant center should be at least somewhere past the engine (many say way, way past) Have at least 7 inches of vertical separation between lowers and uppers at the axle (viewed from side). More would be better. Less puts more stress on the mounts and axle truss. Adding more is similar to making the base of a triangle wider. The front axle can usually take having less vertical separation. Mount the links in some combination to have at least 40 degrees of triangulation per axle. Could be all in the uppers, all in the lowers, or a combination of both. Each will behave a bit differently but it doesn't really matter for most. Flatter link angles are better. Forget the 70% rule that Petersen's published a few years ago. It does work fine, but don't limit yourself to building around it. Link-type suspensions have seemingly infinite variables. In many cases you have to build what fits, even if the numbers are somewhat off.
