About to buy some axles for my truck and wanted some opinions. What would be better, Toyota front with long fields 30 spline or stock Dana 44 front? Work wise the longfields would be easier but i have a ford 9 inch that i would use if i go with the 44 front. And, is there a popular 44 front upgrade people do . I'm sure the 9 inch would do just fine stock, but don't know about the 44.

I think a lot of it has to do with weight and what width you want to run. Dana 44 will give you a lot more options there.

check around and see how many d44 axles have broken and do the same for the longs. you should find very few people have broken longs but several have broken 44's. just ask rusty, then again it could just be the awesome hp that v6 is putting out. ;D although the ring and pinion could be a weak point in the yota axle.

i think the dana you have is a driver side drop and the yota is pass drop

I have only broken ONE stub shaft in my dana 44, can't complain. I recommend drive flanges, lock outs are the weak point.

I'd go with a Toy front w/ Longfields, ARP hub studs, and not a super-low R&P for a stronger pinion.
For the rear I'd find an EB 9" (basically same width as the Toy mini-truck front) and put a 31 or 35 spline spool and a good set of ChroMo shafts in it. That way your bolt patterns would match.

I agree with Craig but your Yota rear axle will be fine for what we do, may upgrade to the 85up IFS rear. Its slightly wider by 3 inches and the axles tube are bigger. I havent broke a rear shaft yet with 4Ds
